The Next Big Thing from Kelsey Browning: Personal Assets – Kelsey Browning

The Next Big Thing from Kelsey Browning: Personal Assets

I was so stoked to be tagged by my pal Tara Kingston in this sort of author chain-letter-blog-post-thing called The Next Big Thing. It’s a chance for you to find out what your favorite (and new to you) writers are working on now. Take a sec to check out Tara’s post from last week. Sounds like a good one, doesn’t it?

What is your working title of your book?

Personal Assets

Where did the idea come from for the book?

I started this book several years ago while taking a writing class through UCLA. It then morphed into a series—Texas Nights—that’s being published by Carina Press over the next two years.

What genre does your book fall under?

Contemporary romance.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Yow – I’m so bad at this! Maybe Erin Heatherton for Allie and Josh Duhamel for Cameron (although Josh looks a little too sweet 🙂 )

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

When Allie Shelby, the town princess, propositions garage owner Cameron Wright with a no-strings affair, he’s shocked as hell but he can’t say no. But while her personal life heats up, Allie’s business is about to crash and burn. And she has to convince Cameron that she’s one princess who’s not looking for a prince to ride to her rescue. (Okay – so that’s more than one sentence. Sue me.)

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Carina Press will release Personal Assets on August 26 – my debut!

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

That’s impossible to answer for this book because it’s been through numerous rounds of revisions since it was first drafted.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I think if you love authors like Jill Shalvis, Shannon Stacey, or Carly Phillips, you might enjoy my voice and the tone and heat of my books.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

The entire book was built off the initial wreck scene where Allie debumperizes Cameron’s beloved classic Cadillac, BB.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

This is the first book in the four-book Texas Nights series set in small-town Texas. You can read an excerpt here!

Today is National Jerky Day so grab a package and chow down! Just don’t come crying to me if you lose a tooth in the process.
