The Games Families Play (Laff-a-lympics style)

Who here is old enough to remember the Laff-a-lympics? You know, the ones where all the Saturday morning cartoon characters competed against one another?

Don’t worry, you don’t have to raise your hand :-).

This weekend, Tech Guy, Smarty Boy and I did our own version of the Laff-a-lympics, albeit without any scary car races through the desert. Tech Guy came up with the idea and Smarty Boy implemented.

Some of the weekend events included: ping pong, Yahtzee, Wii bowling, (virtual) race car driving, Wii Carnival Games and Fruit Ninja, among others.

So how many events did I win, you ask?

None.

Zero.

Zip.

Nada.

In short, I even blew Yahtzee, which I usually play well. In my defense, I did come in second several times, but didn’t place first in a single event. And our wall-size chalkboard in the kitchen told the sad tale.

But yesterday, Smarty Boy had the audacity to tell me I DID place first in something. Cooking. Yeah, you read that right. And yes, he is still alive, by the grace of God.

Hey, at least he didn’t say laundry because then he might not have fared so well. And I did make a pretty decent lasagna over the weekend. LOL

When’s the last time you had a family-wide event? How competitive is your family?

Today is Make Up Your Own Holiday day. (Does this seem familiar to anyone? I swear there’s more than one of these a year!).

So today, I’m making up Mumbly Day (he was the captain of The Really Rottens) because when Tech Guy gets really tickled, he laughs just like that dog!
