Red Hot Read: Knowing the Score by Kat Latham

I’ve been pretty remiss on the Red Hot Reads lately. Strange how trying to get ready for your debut release will discombobulate a gal. Luckily, when we were on a week’s vacay earlier this month, I was able to gorge on great books and will share those with you over the next few weeks.

Title: Knowing the Score

Author: Kat Latham

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Why Knowing the Score is a Red Hot Read: One word—rugby. Who knew a sport I know nothing about could be so sexy? Yeah, so I kinda pictured soccer while I was reading, but hey, let’s not get picky. The hero, Spencer, was totally a guy’s guy, but when it came to giving Caitlyn the time, space and patience she needed, he was definitely the man for the job. Caitlyn, an international aid worker (fascinating heroine job, especially for a big traveler like me!), has had some tough breaks in her past. That presents a challenge because she doesn’t have a true understanding how a healthy relationship between a man and woman should operate. I’ll be honest, I don’t normally go for romances where the heroine is a virgin. I read enough of those when I was a teenager. But Kat does a fabulous job with this heroine. Caitlyn has a reason—a real reason—for holding back and I found myself cheering for Spencer to give her a real reason to move beyond her fears!

August is National Catfish Month. Yes, I know some of you Northerners think they’re bottom-feeders, but that’s because you’ve never eaten good fried catfish. C’mon down and I’ll treat you to a mess of cornmeal battered goodness, along with some fries, cole slaw and hushpuppies!
