The second bag I nixed was the Lands’ End Medium Open Top Shoulder Tote.

What I liked about the bag:

  • Sturdy canvas construction. This thing would survive a nuclear holocaust
  • Four inside pockets, one with a snap and large enough to hold a spiral notebook and a file folder
  • Adjustable strap
  • Small outside pocket I could use for my phone
  • Industrial-strength metal key clip

What I wasn’t so crazy about:

  • The folder sized pocket was near the top of the bag, which meant the bag sagged if I placed something heavy (i.e. my iPad) in that pocket
  • Canvas is heeeeeavy!
  • The main compartment has no closure, so items could spill out easily
  • None of the interior pockets easily held a water bottle
  • With both a shoulder strap and handles, I felt like I had to fight the bag to actually place anything inside it

This might be a nice beach or library book bag, but I passed on it as an everyday, schlep-my-junk-everywhere tote.

Today is Thesaurus Day, and what writer doesn’t LOVE her thesaurus? Hmm…what other words could we use for love? From the J.I Rodale Synonym Finder (my fave of all thesauri!): adore, adulate, worship, desire, want, idolize, pine for, lust for, embrace, savor, relish.

Have you hugged your thesaurus today?
