Increase Your Happiness by Doing Laundry

Tech Guy and I were in our local home improvement store this weekend wandering through the major appliances. Yes, our dates are as romantic as ever :-).

I haven’t owned my own washing machine since 2006, and I’m sure technology has changed the process some, but does doing laundry now give people—or perhaps just well dressed women—an emotional high?

Because otherwise, why is the woman in this Samsung brochure grinning at her husband’s shirt like she’s just won the lottery (or taken a nice ride on the washing machine)? I don’t know about you people, but to me, this smacks too much of Mrs. Cleaver. And you know the Beav’s mom had to be tossing back gin and tonics to handle all the sappy crap happening in that household.

Oh.

And there’s my answer.

Laundry Lady is smiling because she’s hidden the gin behind the washer and dryer and knows there’s no way in hell anyone else in the family is going to find it because, after all, she’s the only one who does laundry. Right?

This is National Friend of the Library Week. Becoming a friend of your local library is such a great way to support your community. And they usually offer you little perks like early shopping hours to their book sales. You might be surprised how reasonable a lifetime membership is. Tech Guy and I donated $200 to our library back in Texas and are members forever. Although we no longer live there, it still makes me happy.
