Gifts for the Man in Your Life – Brain Candy’s Second Day of Christmas

Tech Guy is hand’s down the hardest person on my gift list to buy for. Do you have a similar problem with the man in your life? Interestingly enough, gift giving for my husband became challenging right around the time we had Smarty Boy. Coincidence? I think not.

Also, the older (and more financial secure) men become, the more likely they are to buy themselves those electronics, gadgets, tools and whatnot they love. Last year, I tried to buy Tech Guy a GoPro camera. An hour or two on the internet reading about three different models and I needed a cocktail. Needless to say, Tech Guy ordered it himself.

However, I want to share three gift ideas that have worked for the man in my life.

Music of Spheres Wind Chimes

Yeah, I know this seems like an old-man, grandpa, why-don’t-you-buy-him-suspenders-next kinda gift. But these wind chimes kick ass. They’re made in Austin (you know how I love my Texas-made stuff). They don’t rust, rot or mildew. Tech Guy’s chime looks almost brand new and he’s had it for a year and a half. And the sound? You have never heard a wind chime that sounds this good, this much like real music. Believe me, you invest in one of these and you’ll never go back to that cheap crap from Hobby Lobby again. But when I say investment, I mean it. Their chimes start at about $90, and the Bass retails for close to $600 (guess which one Tech Guy has? :-)).

Moo Cards

This is an especially fun gift if your guy is an artist or has some type of artsy hobby. Since Tech Guy is a great photographer, these were a complete hit with him. Moo uses something called Prinfinity technology, enabling them to print a different image on each card. You can choose from standard business card, mini card or several other sizes. They also print stickers and other fun products. Good news for those of us who aren’t visually inclined: Moo has a fabulous inspiration gallery to get your creative juices going!

Date Nights

If you’d like to present your guy with something a little more personal, something that will last throughout the year, consider gifting him with Date Night certificates. It works kinda like Beer of the Month club, but instead he gets a rockin’ date with you. That means you have to be willing to pick the place and make all the arrangements. Think how appreciative he’ll be that he didn’t have to choose the restaurant! 😉 Microsoft has some fun certificate templates on their website or you can design your own. Heck, you could probably even use Moo cards!

What do you plan to give your guy for the holidays? What gift from you does he cherish the most? (I’ll tell you, with Tech Guy, it’s not the scarf I made him last year…)

Today is Electronic Greetings Day. During the years we lived overseas, I sent email holiday cards. No, maybe not as fun as receiving real paper, but environmental friendly, SO much cheaper, and no paper cuts on your tongue. 😀
